Top 5 Tuesdays - The last 5 films you watched

1. Rogue One - I've got to say overall this film is OK. It's biggest downside? The first half. It's slow going as it's setting the "scene" for the second half which is much more fast paced and action packed.

2. Tower Heist - I watched this for the first time in December and I found it funny, I don't think I've come across a Ben Stiller comedy that I haven't laughed at.

3. X-Men

There is a theme to my last few and that is due to the fact that I got an X-Men boxset for Christmas so have started going through the film, prepping for the release of Logan. I do like X-Men and many other Marvel films - bring on Guardians of the Galaxy 2. I am Groot.

However, what I'm in two minds about going to see is the next instalment of Transformers as from the adverts it doesn't look like life is going well for Bumblebee and I just know I will cry like a baby if anything happens to him.

Are there any films that you're looking forward to or any firm favourites?

Mike Cup Cosy

I've finished my first cup cosy! I do like Monster's Inc so who better to start with than Mike Wazowski? It's a free pattern and there are more cute cosies available on that blog too so have a browse while you're there.
In the last 2 rows on the back I think I've accidentally increased somewhere so it's a little off but I don't mind, I'm just happy with the finish.

I started another intending it to be toothless however on completing the body my friend told me she'd made me one so I have a plain black cup cosy.
Any ideas on what I should do with it - keep it as it is or add something to it?

Unpick, unpick, unpick!

After handing in my lit review (Woo!), I decided in my sleep deprived state that I would have a night of gaming and crafting. One of the games I play has perfect time to crochet or cross stitch in between and I decided to go for crochet. I went from this:

to this:

You can't see it well on the first photo but there was something wrong with one of the holes in the middle and the fact that it wasn't matching up to it's neighbour was bugging me so start over I did. I don't mind so much as I was getting the hang of the pattern so hopefully my next go around will be better.

Yet another project that needs some unpicking doing is this Lizzie*Kate chart
I've gone one stitch higher on one of the letters and it's thrown the border off, I would wing it if I could but it's a border with repeats! Argh!

The cross stitch side of things may go quiet for a while as I'm working on a secret project that I don't think I'll be able to share with you until around summer.

What do you guys do when none of your crafty projects seem to be going right?

Top 5 Tuesdays - Travel Charts

I thought I'd join in with Kate's Top 5 Tuesday series. The theme this week was travel charts and I have all of the following in my stash waiting to be started one day.

1. La Rochelle - which unfortunately looks like it is no longer available.
As you may have noticed, I love the place! We try to go at least once a year as we have family there. Now I just need to find a similar chart for Nazaré.

I'm hoping to slowly kit this up during sales as it is an expensive yet beautiful piece. This would be a nice reminder of my trip to South Africa which I now realise I completely forgot to blog about - apologies!

Well it's someone writing about their tavels so I'm including it ;)
I have this in my stash to stitch for a friend as she loved her trip to New York.
I've never been to Canada but would love to go so I'm including a maple leaf design too!

Make sure to check out the others who are participating as well!

Goodies and a new start!

I have done well for crafty goodies this Christmas - I wonder if next Christmas time could be gifted to make a dent in my stash?

From my other half I received this beauty that I had my eye on for a while and was going to buy it for myself as a graduation present.
The kit was so well put together - absolutely gorgeous. It didn't take me long before I started it, unfortunately as I've decided it will be stitched two handed I couldn't take it with me on my trip.

From my parents
From other family and friends
Here's what I bought whilst in France
I've decided that I'd like to do more crochet now that I'm getting the hang of it. I bought some yarn about a month ago for a virus shawl which hasn't grown much and I've got half of the yarn needed for an Outlander shawl.

So many crafts, so little time!

Nordic Reindeer

I managed to squeeze in one last finish for 2016!
It's Nordic Reindeer by Mouseloft. This was gifted to me a couple of Christmas' ago and was perfect for my train journey.

That brings my total finishes for 2016 to 6 - not as much as last year or the year before but I'm not complaining.

I'm not going to be planning 15 finishes for 2017 as I usually fail and tend to avoid the projects I'm determined to have done. The plan for this year is to finish at least 3 projects that were gifted to me. I'm not bothered about the size - some are a similar size to the reindeer. Here's a photo of most of the kits I have received as gifts. There are charts but most were digital so take up less room.
The next 6 months will be busy as I will be finishing my degree which seems so surreal.

I will be back soon with the lovely goodies I received for Christmas and what I bought during my New Year away.
