Pretty Stash from Casa Cenina

As the title of this post suggests, I received my orders today. Kindly they bundled them together in one. It did take a bit of time for my new year order to be sorted but a kit on there had a 15 day delivery period and then two other items didn't turn up from their supplier which they kindly refunded me for.

I've got to say when I got that tracking text, I loved watching it go from Italy to Germany and then on to the UK. Anyway, enough waffling...

Lizzie Kate's Housework Never Killed Anyone...

Dimension's Cardinal Joy kit:

I love that you can get some of Heritage's designs as just charts rather than the kit.

 Watercolours: Tower Bridge

 Watercolours: Westminster
 Dimensions' Sailor Bear
 Disney Dreams Pillow
 Riolis' Zebras in the Savannah.
I actually bought this kit on sale for 12.38€ it is normally 26.76€ however it is more expensive at Hobbycraft at £30...I'm amazed that they don't see how they are losing out by not looking at the competition.

I also bought 2 charts for a friend and 2 pieces of fabric however I can't remember what I had in mind for the 28ct evenweave that I ordered. Does that happen to anyone else?

I'm very pleased with my experience with Casa Cenina, it may have taken a while but I have no reason to complain as I have more than enough stitching to be getting on with and I chose not to have the immediately available items to be shipped ahead.

I'm now on a self-imposed stash ban, please slap my hand away if you see it go anywhere near a checkout button.

A new start and an update

I've started one of the table runners for my partner's family. This is a Royal Paris kit, it has taken some getting used to stitching with 4 strands. Some of the stitches I'm not entirely happy with.

It seems to be taking longer than usual to stitch on this one but I think that's due to the spacing of the cross stitches .

I've put quite a few stitches into the wedding sampler which I worked on for 2 days. I'm trying to work a system where I don't get fed up with the mass of blue. It's a small project and not all mass sections of colour make me feel this way but for some reason this one does.

I'll either continue with the table runner or work on one of my WIPs that are on my crazy list. I've decided no new starts unless I finish one of my WIPs, this is because I have plenty of stash (there's more on the way) and if I started whatever took my fancy then nothing will get finished. I've got about 16 WIPs at the moment so plenty to occupy myself with :) However, the JEC SAL will not be subject to this rule.

Casa Cenina

Hello everyone just to let you know that I've signed up to the Casa Cenina guest club. This means that from time to time I will be posting links to their homepage, categories or products. In the cases of products, it will be ones I have ordered from the company.

I buy these products using my own money, however if any of my readers click on a link and make a purchase then I can either receive a discount or commission (commission requires a large amount of money to be spent in a year, so that probably won't happen).

I decided to try this out because I have made 2 large purchases with the company and although I haven't received them yet due to an out of stock kit* and the other order was placed just the other night, I do plan to use Casa Cenina in the future.

I hope you all aren't put off by this and I'll make sure not to bombard you with posts.

*I could have the items that were ready for shipment sent in a different order but as I have plenty of projects to be getting on with, I decided not to choose this option.

First finish of 2015

Hello everyone!

I've managed to stitch every day (even if some days there were only 10 stitches put in) and this is the result:

Asterix and Obelix finished 17.01.15

I started Asterix and Obelix on New Year. I do believe the pattern is from Sprite Stitch but their wiki is down so I can't confirm. I did make some changes to the original pattern as there were some random white patches on Obelix's skin that I decided to omit as I didn't see the point in them.

I'm unable to make a start on the JE SAL until my fabric arrives but that could take another week or two. I'm hoping I ordered a big enough piece to stitch it all on one piece but that depends on what sort of border I think would suit it.

I will either work on the wedding sampler or one of the table runners that needs to be done by July.

Can you believe it's 2015?

Happy New Year!

I amazed at how fast 2014 went by and hope that you all had a lovely Christmas/holiday with your loved ones.

Sadly I didn't do so well with my crazy challenge last year (5/15), it was still better than 2013 so I'm trying something more manageable around uni this year. I have put the new page up so you can follow how I'm getting along. I've also put a page up of my WIPs although it doesn't have any photos on there.

This year I'm taking part in 2 SALs, a Joan Elliott one run by Mii Stitch (we are using the desk calendar charts that came with WOXS) and a HAED run by the facebook group. For the HAED SAL we are looking at how many page finishes we can manage in a year! I have 3 charts on the go and two kitted up so it shouldn't be too hard to at least manage 1 (remind me that I said this when it comes to the end of the year and I still haven't managed one).

I did have higher aims in sewing but I've revised them to just 2 stockings for Christmas. This is due to time constraints with a full time course.

I'm looking forward to see everyone's projects throughout the year.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog.

Take care!
